Are you aware of your rights under the law? With the vast amount of employment legislation in force, it can be very difficult to understand what your rights in the workplace are.

What are my employment rights ?
Every employee is entitled to:
- Receive a written statement of their main employment terms and conditions within two months of starting work.
- Receive 28 days of holiday every year, including bank holidays.
- Work free of direct and indirect discrimination and harassment based on age, race, gender, sexual orientation, gender reassignment or disabilities.
- Not be victimised for bringing legitimate legal claims against their employer.
- Work in an environment that is compliant with Health and Safety Regulations.
- Not work more than 48 hours per week unless written consent is given.
- Not be forced to work on Sundays.
- Be paid a minimum wage.
- Be given notice if their employment is terminated (providing a certain length of service has been given).
- Be consulted in any procedures surrounding redundancy.
- The right to a fair hearing, representation and appeal if their employment is to be terminated.
- Be a member of a union.
- Not be unfairly treated on the basis of union membership or taking part in legitimate trade union action.
